LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Rockford University men's soccer team (0-0-3) fought to a 2-2 draw against Cornell College (0-2-1). The two sides were inseparable on the pitch, with the stat sheet very similar on both sides. Cornell led in shots and shots on goal with 16 and 8, respectively, but Rockford was right there as well with 15 shots with 7 on goal. Each point on the board for the Regents came off the foot of
Abraham Gonzalez who scored his first two goals of the season. Rockford was the only team that held a lead in the match but gave up an equalizer each time, drawing 2-2.
- After a 0-0 first half, Abraham Gonzalez and Kacper Stepaniak exchanged a few passes before Gonzalez got the ball on the left side of the net and was able to barely get a shot off to beat the goalkeeper, opening the scoring at 1-0 Rockford.
- The Rams responded after, in the 64th minute a ball placed in the middle of the box right in front of goal was put away by Cian McNamara, taking away the Regents lead and making it 1-1.
- Only 11 minutes later Cornell committed a foul outside the box on the left side. Trusted with taking the shot was the earlier goal scorer Abraham Gonzalez, who put it perfectly past the goalie on the left side of the net, taking back the lead at 2-1.
- Cornell was threatening again in the 79th minute when the team decided to pass the ball back outside the box to a waiting Zach Miller, who placed it perfectly out of reach of goalkeeper Gustavo Lazcano, bringing the game back once again to a draw at 2-2.
- Cornell went down to 10 players in the 83rd minute, but the Regents couldn't capitalize, earning their third draw in three games, 2-2.
