ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University men's basketball team won its second-straight conference game, 80-72 against Dominican University on Tuesday night. Rockford maintained full control of the paint for the entire contest, converting 50 points in the paint compared to 18 for the Stars. The Regents' bench made huge contributions as well, scoring 47 of Rockford's 80 points.
- The Regents got rolling and started off up 8-4 with 4 different Rockford players making contributions, most notably Zac Centers with a three-pointer.
- A pair of Dominican threes tied the game at 10-10. RU quickly hit its stride after, turning out a 17-6 run over the next 5:36 of play. Six different Regents helped build the lead, with Zac Centers and Ashton Singleton each leading the team with four points. Rockford held an 11-point lead with the score at 27-16.
- Dominican took the remainder of the half to crawl back into the game with a 20-9 run over the last 7:51 of the half. After the end of the run, it was a 36-36 game going into the break.
- The Stars came out of the break and maintained the momentum they had going into the second half, consistently staying in front of Rockford while the two sides traded points until the score sat at 61-59 in favor of Dominican. Micah Swanson and Kevin Diemer propelled the Regents forward with eight and four points to lead RU, respectively.
- It took until the final 7:56 of the game to finally take the game back over. A dunk by Micah Swanson to tie the game at 61 stole the momentum back, and Rockford took the game back over.
- Rockford shot 78 percent from the field, including 67 percent from three over this period, going on a 21-11 run to ice the game in the Regents favor. Mateo Fernandez Solari broke out for a team-high eight points during this run, while Micah Swanson (6 points) and Noody Lacey (4 points) helped to grow the lead and hold off the Stars until the final horn. Rockford had fought hard and earned its second NACC win in a row with a final score of 80-72.
- Micah Swanson scored 25 percent of the Regent's points, knocking down 20, a season-high. He also had 5 rebounds.
- Kevin Diemer had yet another double-double, making it two in a row with 10 points and 11 rebounds. He also led the team in assists with 4 and blocks with 2.
- Mateo Fernandez Solari led the team in steals with 3 while also scoring 10 points and earning 3 assists.
- Zac Centers hit 50 percent of his three-point shots on pace to 10 points of his own with 4 rebounds, a block, and a steal.
- Noody Lacey was the fifth and final Regent to hit double figures in points. He scored his ninth and tenth points with a pair of free throws to ice the game.
