ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University men's basketball team fell in a nail-biter at home against WLC 75-71. Despite shooting 50 percent from the three-point line (9-for-18), Rockford was bested by the points off turnovers and points in the paint that helped the WLC Warriors stay ahead of the Regents for over 75% of the game. Rockford nearly overcame the 13-point deficit toward the end of the game, but came up just short 75-71.
Micah Swanson had a fantastic game with team-highs in points (18) and rebounds (15), including a career-high 10 offensive rebounds. This was Swanson's second-straight double-double and third of the season.
- Rockford started the game out in front by four, but quickly fell into a back-and-forth battle with the Warriors to the score of 11-11. Micah Swanson and Ashton Singleton led the scoring for Rockford with four and three respectively.
- Wisconsin Lutheran managed to pull away on a 14-6 run later in the half to establish an eight point lead with 5:28 left in the half.
- The Regents didn't go into the break without a fight, however. Zac Centers, Ashton Singleton, and Vincent Eugene each hit a three-point basket before the end of the half to contribute to a 12-8 Rockford run to pull the game closer at 33-29.
- It was a very hot start to half number two for both sides. Wisconsin Lutheran made a 10-6 run, but both sides only missed one shot each over the first three minutes. Vincent Eugene tallied four points and Micah Swanson scored the other two for the Regents.
- WLC continued its run and built the lead to 15 points, the largest of the game, and held it until 63-48. The Regents made a massive turnaround at this point, dominating the next six minutes of play, clawing back into the game. An 18-4 run pulled the game within one point. Micah Swanson scored 7 points and Mateo Fernandez Solari scored 5 points to lead the run for the Regents.
- Wisconsin Lutheran converted every single free throw down the stretch and managed to hold onto the lead to win with a final score of 75-71.
- Micah Swanson recorded his third double-double of the season with a team-high 18 points and tying his career-high 15 rebounds with 10 offensive rebounds. Swanson also had the team-highs in assists (3) and blocks (2).
- Vincent Eugene had 16 points with 2 assists and a block.
- Ashton Singleton scored all his points from three, hitting three for nine total points and 5 rebounds.
