PLYMOUTH, Wis. - The Rockford University men's soccer team earned a huge 1-0 road win on Saturday at Lakeland University.
Abraham Gonzalez was once again the catalyst for the Rockford attack, scoring his fourth game-winning goal of the season. The Regent defense, led by goalkeeper
Andrik Vidaurri, pitched its sixth shutout of the year, to help lead the Regents to their fifth 1-0 win of the season. The win moves Rockford into sole possession of sixth place in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference with just one game remaining and gives the Regents excellent odds of clinching one of the eight spots in the 2023 NACC Tournament.
- Abraham Gonzalez broke the scoreless tie in the 37th minute with his fifth goal of the season. Gonzalez drilled a free kick from about 27 yards out into the upper right corner of the net, to give the Regents a 1-0 lead heading into the half.Â
- Rockford goalkeeper Andrik Vidaurri made three huge saves early in the second half to keep the Muskies off the scoreboard. Vidaurri turned away Lakeland in the 49th minute, the 67th minute and the 77th minute.Â
- The RU defense would take it the rest of the way, allowing no shots over the final 13:23 of the match en route to the 1-0 win.Â
- The win moves the Regents to 5-5-1 in the NACC and into sole possession of sixth place.Â

- The Regents can move up to has high as fifth place in the NACC with a win over Illinois Tech and a Wisconsin Lutheran loss or tie at MSOE on Wednesday.Â
