AURORA, Ill. - The Rockford University men's soccer team dropped its NACC Tournament Quarterfinals match 4-1 on the road Saturday afternoon at No. 2 seed Aurora University. The Regents got off to a fast start, scoring a goal less than four minutes in.
Baruani Kamangila stole the ball off a throw in near the edge off the 18-yard box and put the ball into the lower left corner of the net to give Rockford a quick 1-0 advantage. However, the Spartans tied the match later in the half, and then add a trio of goals in the second half to pick up the win and advance to the NACC Tournament Semifinals next Tuesday.
- Rockford started the match out with bang, scoring a goal after just 3:47 of play.
- Baruani Kamangila made an outstanding defensive play by stealing a throw in around the center of the 18-yard box. Kamangila then turned toward the goal and fired the ball into the lower left corner of the net to give Rockford a quick 1-0 lead.
- The score remained unchanged until the 20th minute when Aurora's Anthony Marmolejo delivered the equalizer to make it a 1-1 game.
- Neither team was able to score the remainder of the half, as the match entered the break knotted at 1-1.
- Unfortunately, the Spartans came out of the break on a mission in the second half.
- Aurora scored three goals over the first 16 minutes of the period and took commanding 4-1 advantage.
- Rockford had just one shot the rest of the way and fell by a final score of 4-1.
- Baruani Kamangila scored his fourth goal of the season. Kamangila had a total of 2 shots in the match, both of which were on goal.
- Andrik Vidaurri tallied 11 saves in the match.
- Javier Palacios finished with 3 shots and 1 shot on goal.
