Diemer Drops 32 and Regents Roll to a 4-0 Start

ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University men's basketball team put up an impressive 96-70 win over the visiting Martin Luther Knights. Kevin Diemer led the way for the Regents with a season-high 32 points on an incredible 92.9% shooting and six rebounds. Diemer passed both Steve Leathers for the 15th most points in program history (1,161) and his brother Tony Diemer for the 10th most rebounds in program history (680). Overall, the Regents had their best shooting performance of the season, connecting on 55.1% on their shot attempts (38-69) and 44.8% of their three-point attempts (13-29). Defensively, the Regents held the Knights to just 34.4% shooting and 34.8% from beyond the arc. Rockford's hot shooting performance and solid defense lead to the Regents' first 4-0 start since the 2000-01 season.

  • The Regents got out to a 10-5 lead to start the game, with 5 points coming from Jaden Bell and 3 by Kevin Diemer.
  • The first half started out pretty slow, with the Regents clinging onto a 19-18 lead with 9:40 left in the first half.
  • The Regents were able to get back to back to back three-pointers from Jaden Bell twice and Noody Lacey once to take a 28-19 lead over the Knights.
  • The Knights were able to cut the Regent down to just 7 points (40-33) after a layup by Trey Lauber, but the Regents were able to power through the half and take a 47-37 lead into halftime.

  • The Knights were able to cut the Regent lead down to just 5 after a good three-pointer by Ethan Kjenstad, but the Regents found the groove, going on an 11-3 run to take a 72-59 lead, capped off by a layup from Tyrese England.
  • The Regents then got back to back three-pointers from Kevin Diemer and a fastbreak dunk by Tyrese England to take a 80-63 lead. 
  • The Regents went on a 16-7 run to close the game out and take the win 96-70 over the Knights.

  • Anfernee James had a 10 point game, swatting a season high 4 blocks also grabbing a season high 5 rebounds and 2 steals.
