Women's Hoops Cruises Past Blackburn

CARLINVILLE, Ill. - The Rockford University women's basketball team coasted to an easy 85-38 win on Tuesday evening at Blackburn College. The outcome of the game was never really in doubt, as Rockford was in control from the opening tip. The Regents held the Beavers to just five points on 14.3% shooting in the first quarter and never looked back. Rockford led by as many as 49 points en route to the victory. Statistically, the Regents had one of their best games in recent memory. Rockford's 47-point margin of victory was the largest for the Regents since 2013, when Rockford defeated Illinois Tech 90-34. The Regents also made a season-high 33 baskets on 40.7% shooting, held their opponent to a season-low 25.0% shooting and outrebounded Blackburn by an astounding 35 rebounds (68-33).

  • Rockford scored the first seven points of the game and held Blackburn scoreless for almost five minutes to take a quick 7-0 lead. Audrina Terhune got the scoring started with a triple, and Tyra Clark capped off the run with a layup at the 5:42 mark. 
  • After the Beavers cut the Regent lead back down to four points, Rockford scored the final 11 points of the quarter, to take a 20-5 advantage heading into the second. Nia Wilkerson scored nine straight points over that stretch. 
  • Rockford continued its run into the second quarter, as the Regents scored the first 11 points, to bring their overall scoring streak up to 22 straight points. Four different Regents scored to start the second quarter, led by five points from Lexi Keating
  • The Regents would eventually extend their lead to as many as 37 points in the third quarter off a D'Asia Washington layup with 4:17 remaining. 
  • Rockford never trailed by less than 30 the rest of the way and built its lead up to as many as 49, before ultimately winning by a final score of 85-38.

  • Lexi Keating finished with a career-high 13 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal.
  • Audrina Terhune added 12 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal. 
  • Grace Vyborny notched her first double-double of the season. She had 10 points, 10 rebounds, 3 blocks, 1 assist and 1 steal.
