ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University men's basketball team fell 101-94 to the visiting Lakeland University Muskies in a NACC play opener for both teams. However,
Kevin Diemer was able to grab 13 rebounds as a part of his stellar performance and move into 9th all time for rebounds in program history with 699. This game was quite close with 7 ties and 8 lead changes with Lakeland shooting at 50% and Rockford at 48.8%. From three-point range the Muskies had a 10-26 (38.5%) - 8-27 (29.6%) advantage. Lakeland really had the advantage in free throw percentage 27-35 (77.1%) - 6-19 (31.6%). Defensively, the Regents forced 12 turnovers and turned those into 19 points.
- The game got out to an 8-8 tie about 4 minutes through the first half after a three-pointer from Seth Childers.
- The Muskies then went on a 13-6 run to take a 21-14 lead over Rockford, in a stretch where they went 4-5 (80%) from the field.
- Half way through the first half the Regents would find their way to a 25-23 lead capped off by an Anfernee James layup.
- The game would remain close with a 44-42 Regent lead going into the half.
- Rockford got out to a 52-51 lead 4:07 through the second half after a layup by Kevin Diemer.
- Lakeland was able to go on a quick 9-3 run over the Regents to take a 61-54 lead with 13:19 to play.
- The Regents were able cut it down to a 68-67 Muskie lead with 9:16 to play after a layup by Noody Lacey.
- The Muskies were able to go on a 11-2 run and take a 79-69 lead with just 5:35 left on the clock.
- The game found its way to a 93-86 Lakeland lead with 53 seconds left The Regents were able to get it within 7 points after a three-pointer from Noody Lacey.
- The Muskies were able to hold off the Regents and take the game 101-94.
- Kevin Diemer put up his first double-double of the season putting up with 30 points, season highs in rebounds (13) and assists (7), also picking up 1 block and 1 steal.
- Jaden Bell had 17 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal.
- Anfernee James had 12 points off the bench also grabbing 2 rebounds, 1 steal and 3 assists.
- Seth Childers had a season high 5 steals and also grabbed 3 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists.
