WATERTOWN, Wis. - The Rockford University men's basketball team won its fourth straight game following a 81-70 victory on Tuesday night at Maranatha Baptist University. The Regents led by as many as ten points in the first half, but entered the intermission tied at 34. However, Rockford would essentially salt the game away with a 12-0 run to begin the second half, as the Sabercats never really threatened for the remainder of the evening. Two of the biggest differences in the game statistically were Rockford's ability to convert turnovers into points and grab offensive rebounds. Rockford converted its 17 forced turnovers into 29 points, compared to just 11 points off 13 forced turnovers for Maranatha. Additionally, the Regents were +10 on the glass, which helped lead to Rockford taking 11 more shots than the Sabercats.
- Matthew Elliott scored four of Rockford's first seven points to give the Regents a 7-0 lead less than two minutes into the game.
- However, the Sabercats answered right back with an 11-3 run over the next four and half minutes to take their first lead of the game at 11-10.
- The lead would change hands nine times over the remainder of the half, before it seemed as though Rockford had seized control of the game.
- The Regents scored 11 straight points to grab a 32-22 lead with 2:50 remaining in the first half. A trio of Regents scored over that span, led by six points from Kevin Diemer.
- Unfortunately, Maranatha closed the half on a 12-2 run to send the game into the break tied at 34-34.
- Rockford came roaring out of the gates to start the second half. The Regents scored the first 12 points, led by six from Noody Lacey, to take a 46-34 advantage.
- The Regents would build their lead up to as many as 16 points on a Kevin Diemer layup 14:33 left in the game.
- Maranatha was briefly able to get back to within seven points on a layup with 6:57 remaining, but could not get any closer.
- Rockford responded by scoring six of the next seven points to push its lead back to 12 en route to an 81-70 win.
- Kevin Diemer notched his third double-double of the season. Diemer poured in a game-high 27 points, had 10 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block and 1 steal.
- Noody Lacey finished with 14 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals and an assist.
- Jaden Bell added 10 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals.
- Matthew Elliott had 10 points, 5 rebounds and a block.
