AURORA, Ill. - Rockford University junior guard
Audrina Terhune dropped a career-high 32 points and made six three-pointers in a high-scoring 103-70 loss on the road to Aurora University. The Regents actually outscored the Spartans 43-41 in the second and fourth quarters combined. Unfortunately, Aurora overwhelmed Rockford in the opening quarter of each half, outscoring the Regents by a 62-27 margin. It wasn't all bad news though, as Rockford's 70-point outburst was the highest point total for the Regents in any game thus far this season.
- Aurora scored the first seven points of the day as a part of a 17-4 run to begin the game.
- However, Rockford responded with six straight points of its own, to make it a 17-10 game. Katie Paredes led the way with four of the six points.
- Unfortunately, the Spartans closed the quarter on an 11-2 spurt to take a 28-12 lead after one period of play.
- Aurora would extend its lead to as many as 22 points in the second quarter before taking a 46-29 advantage into the break.
- The Spartans proceeded to come out of the locker room on fire to start the second half. Aurora went 8-of-11 from the floor and scored the first 20 points to take a commanding 66-29 lead.
- From that moment on, Rockford's Audrina Terhune took over the Regent offensive attack. She scored 24 second-half points, including 14 in the fourth quarter. Terhune went 9-of-15 from the floor and drained 6-of-8 three-point attempts (75%), which was just one made triple away from tying the RU single-game record.
- Unfortunately, Terhune's Herculean effort was not enough, as Rockford fell by a final score of 103-70.
- Audrina Terhune finished with a game and career-high 32 points on 10-of-21 shooting. Her 6-of-11 performance from three-point range was just one made triple away from tying the single-game school record. She rounded out her evening with 4 rebounds and 3 assists.
- Lexi Keating added 10 points, 3 assists, 2 rebounds and 1 steal off the bench.
- Katie Paredes had 8 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal.
