FOND DU LAC, Wis. - The Rockford University men's basketball team fell 88-64 on the road Tuesday night to the Marian University Sabres in the first round of the NACC Tournament. Marian simply could not miss for much of the evening, shooting 50.8% from the floor for the game, including 68.8% in the first half. Micah Swanson did play perhaps the best game of his career, finishing with a career-high 27 points and 8 rebounds.
- Marian opened the game on a 10-0 run and unfortunately, never trailed the entire day.
- Rockford did momentarily get back within seven at the 16:33 mark, following a Micah Swanson free throw and a Kevin Diemer made layup.
- Unfortunately, the Regents were unable to tamper down the red-hot Sabre shooting.
- Marian built its lead up to as many as 22 points in the half, before Zac Centers hit a triple to make it a 54-35 Sabre advantage heading into the break.
- Rockford was unable to get any closer than 19 over the final twenty minutes and fell by a final score of 88-64.
- Micah Swanson finished with a career-high 27 points on 10-of-15 shooting and grabbed 8 rebounds.
- Kevin Diemer had 14 points, 9 rebounds and 1 assist.
- Charles Burnell tallied 7 points, 6 assists and 1 rebound.
