ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University football team fell to Lakeland 41-20 in its second NACC game. The game started out close with each team trading touchdowns in the first quarter to keep things 7-7 going into the second quarter. Lakeland went on to score the next 2 touchdowns and hold control of the Regents for the remainder of the game. The Muskies had the advantage in most categories, including first downs (26-16), rushing yards (271-50) and total offense (477-275). The Regents however did have the edge in passing yards (225-206), takeaways (3-1) and sacks (2-0).
- On their first drive of the game, the Muskies drove down to the Rockford end zone and scored early to put themselves up 7-0 to start the game.
- The Regents responded with a touchdown drive of their own on a 4th and 3 play from Jaelen Ray to Da'Quan McIntosh for the Rockford touchdown, tying the game back up 7-7.
- Lakeland scored the next two touchdowns and take the lead 21-7 in the last few minutes of the second quarter.
- Each team would possess the ball before the end of the first half, but neither team was able to score, keeping the game 21-7 in favor of the Muskies going into the half.
- Rockford got the ball to start the second half but they were forced to punt giving Lakeland the ball back, but the Rockford defense would come in big for the Regents with an interception by Maddux Rigsby that he took back into the Lakeland end zone for the Regents score, making the game 21-14.
- Lakeland would go on to score 10 more in the 3rd quarter giving them a three-score lead at 31-14.
- Kaden Finnestad got the Regents some points with 30 and 35 yard field goals to keep the Regents within two-scores each time.
- However Lakeland continued to score and held the Regents to two field goals in the 4th quarter to win the game 41-20 over Rockford.
- Maddux Rigsby had an interception that he returned for a touchdown, 2 tackles, and 1 tackle for loss.
- Reginald Jones Jr. had his 4th interception of the season, 8 total tackles and still leads the NACC in interceptions.
- Jaelen Ray went 25-37 in passes and threw for 225 yards and a touchdown.
- Da"Quan McIntosh had 6 receptions for 53 yards and a touchdown.
- Kaden Finnestad was perfect on the day going 2-2 on both field goals and extra points.
