MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Rockford University men's basketball team fell 84-68 on the road Saturday afternoon to the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors. The Regents hung with the first-place Warriors for the majority of the game, but WLC eventually caught fire from the floor and pulled away midway through the second half. Wisconsin Lutheran shot a blistering 54.1% in the game, including an impressive 41.7% from long range. Conversely, the Regents shot just 42.4% from the floor and 30.4% from beyond the arc. The win gives the Warriors their third straight victory in the series and their sixth win in the last seven meetings.
- After falling behind 7-3 over the first three minutes and 57 seconds, Rockford scored seven straight points to take its first lead of the game. Rockford was a perfect 3-for-3 from the floor over that span and was led by three points from Kevin Diemer.
- However, WLC answered right back with an 11-0 run of its own, to take an 18-10 advantage. The Warriors knocked down all five of their shots and took the largest lead thus far for either team.
- With Wisconsin Lutheran still holding a six-point lead with six minutes and 40 seconds left in the first half, Rockford scored the next five points to get back within one. Kevin Diemer got things started with a pair of free throws, and then Jaden Bell made it a 27-26 game with a triple at the 5:06 mark.
- The Warriors once again responded with an 11-4 spurt close out the half and take a 38-30 advantage into the break.
- WLC built its lead up to as many as 12 points during the first two minutes of the second half.
- Rockford was however able to methodically trim the deficit back down to just four points with 14:20 left in the game. The Regents used a 6-0 run over a span of just 46 seconds, capped off by a Kevin Diemer jumper, to make it 49-45.
- The Warriors responded yet again and built their lead back up to 11 points at the 9:45 mark.
- Unfortunately, Rockford never got back to within single-digits the remainder of the game and fell by a final score of 84-68.
- Kevin Diemer finished with a team-high 26 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal. Diemer's 26-point effort gives him 1,376 career points and moves him into 12th place on the RU all-time scoring list, passing Bill Schilling (1,358).
- Anfernee James had 12 points on a perfect 6-for-6 shooting performance. He also added 1 assist and 1 steal.
- Jaden Bell tallied 10 points, 6 rebounds, 5 steals and 1 assist.
