ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University women's basketball team won 56-48 at home Saturday afternoon against the Dominican University Stars. The Regents won the rebound battle 51-39, and even more so on the offensive side 24-11, which allowed Rockford to pick up a 19-11 advantage in second chance points. The biggest difference in the game was Rockford's ability to get to the free throw line and cash in 12 more free throws than the Stars. Both factors allowed Rockford to stay in control and take a very important win. With this win, Rockford moves into a tie for 8th in the conference standings, with the top 8 set to qualify for the NACC tournament.

- The Stars continued to control for most of the quarter, finding their way to a 17-7 lead with 2:19 left in the first.
- The Regents were able to cut the 10-point deficit to just 6 after a jumper from Katie Paredes to make it a 17-11 game after the first quarter.
- Rockford got off to a hot start in the second quarter with an 11-0 run to get things going, led by Tyra Clark with 6 points.
- The Stars were able to tie the game back up at 22 with 1:24 left in the half, but Rockford ended the half on a 4-2 run and took a 26-24 lead into halftime.
- The Regents and Stars traded three-pointers to begin the third quarter to make it a 29-27 Rockford lead.
- This quarter remained close as each team traded points, but Rockford was able to maintain the lead and find its way to a 40-36 lead after a jumper from Katie Paredes with one quarter to go.
- Dominican quickly stole the lead back with a quick 6-1 run to make it a 42-41 game.
- The Regents then went on a 9-0 run to take the game right back, during this stretch, Rockford was 3-6 from the field and Tyra Clark led the way with 6 points.
- Rockford was able to hold off the Dominican comeback effort with multiple successful trips to the free throw line and walked away with the 56-48 win.
