MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Rockford University women's basketball team fell 56-53 on the road Wednesday evening to the MSOE Raiders. The game was packed full of large runs and momentum swings, as both teams led by double-figures at various points. The Regents' largest lead came late in the first quarter when they led by ten, while the Raiders led by a game-high 12 points late in the third quarter. Statistically, the game once again came down to turnovers, points off turnovers and free throws. Rockford turned the ball over 25 times leading to 19 MSOE points, compared to 9 Raider turnovers leading to 10 Regent points. MSOE was also able to get to the free throw line 16 more times than Rockford and make 13 more free throws.
- Rockford got off to a fast start, leading by as many as ten points in the first quarter.Â
- The Regents scored ten straight points on an impressive 4-5 shooting over a 2 minute and 33 second span, to take their largest lead of the game at 21-11. Four different Regents scored during the run, which was capped off by a D'Asia Washington layup with 1:02 remaining in the first quarter.Â
- However, the Raiders responded right back with a 19-2 run of their own and took a seven-point lead with 11 seconds remaining in the first half.
- Fortunately, Tyra Clark was able to drain a triple right before halftime, to make it 30-26 Raider advantage heading into the break.
- MSOE continued to build upon its momentum in the third, extending its lead to a game-high 12 points with 3:18 left in the period.Â
- Rockford was able to score the final five points of the period, thanks to a Jocelyn Callahan three and a Grace Vyborny layup, to make it a 44-37 game going into the fourth.Â
- After the Raiders opened the fourth with a three of their own, the Regents ran off ten straight points to knot the game at 47-47, with 7:06 left in regulation. Much like in the opening moments of the game, Rockford went 4-5 from the floor over a span of 2 minutes and 41 seconds to tie it up. Nia Wilkerson led the way with five points, while Jocelyn Callahan chipped in three.
- MSOE quickly rebuilt its lead back to five points, but Rockford would get back to within two points in the closing seconds of the game. Unfortunately, the Raiders then made one-of-two at the line, and the Regents were unable to tie it up as time expired, falling by a final score of 56-53.
- Grace Vyborny narrowly missed her second double-double of the season. Vyborny finished with 8 points on 4-7 shooting and 9 rebounds.Â
- Tyra Clark finished with a game-high 10 rebounds, 5 points and 2 assists.Â
- Audrina Terhune added 9 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists.Â
- D'Asia Washington had 6 points and 9 offensive rebounds.Â
