ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference and D3football.com announced Tuesday morning that Rockford University running back
Jack Carey has been named the NACC Offensive Player of the Week and to the D3football.com Team of the Week. This marks the first time in his career that Carey has earned a weekly award from the NACC or from D3football.com. He also becomes the second RU offensive player this year to be named the conference's player of the week and the third Regent to make the D3football.com Team of the Week.
Jack Carey set single-game highs in carries, rushing yards and rushing touchdowns in Rockford's 74-45 win at Concordia Chicago. Carey ran the ball 30 times for 242 yards (8.1 yards/carry) and 4 touchdowns. He also caught 2 passes for 23 yards. His 242 rushing yards are the third most by an NCAA Division III player this year and his 4 rushing touchdowns are tied for fourth most in a single game.
The Rockford University football team hits the road again on Saturday, October 19 to face #16 Aurora University. Kickoff is set for 1 PM.
