ROCKFORD, Ill. - Rockford University linebacker Joey Alvarez has been selected as the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Defensive Player of the Week and as a linebacker on the D3football.com Team of the Week for the second time this season. He becomes just the second player in the conference to receive defensive player of the week honors multiple times this year, and is now the only Regent to ever be selected as the NACC Defensive Player of the Week and to the D3football.com Team of the Week multiple times in one season. This also marks the third time in his career that he has received NACC Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Joey Alvarez tied both his career-high and the Rockford University single-game record with 19 tackles, including 16 solo tackles, on the road against Lakeland. Alvarez also posted a career-high 3.5 tackles for loss, 2 sacks and forced a pair of fumbles, both of which gave Rockford a short field and led to touchdowns on the ensuing drives.
