ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University men's basketball team took its second-straight double-digit win with a 77-63 win over the Eureka College Red Devils. Rockford was in control for the majority of the game, leading for 29 minutes and 26 seconds, despite Eureka holding an early lead. The Regents led by as many as 17 points and once they took the lead late with 3 minutes and 30 seconds left in the first half, they did not trail again. Rockford outrebounded Eureka by an astounding 50-29 mark, including 21-6 on the offensive boards. This created a 25-8 advantage in second chance points as well as a huge 50-22 advantage in points in the paint. This ultimately led to the 14-point home-opening victory for the Regents and the first home win over Eureka in two years.
- Rockford and Eureka traded baskets to open up the game with the Regents getting out to a slight 7-6 after a layup from Micah Swanson.
- The Red Devils were able to go on a 13-6 run to take a 19-13 lead over Rockford about midway through the first half.
- Eureka continued to stay in control eventually pulling out to a 7-point, 26-19 lead, their largest of the game, but Rockford responded with a 14-8 run to take a 33-32 lead. The Regents shot 6-9 (66.7%) from the field and 1-2 (50%) from beyond the arc during the stretch and were led by Tre Miller with 5 points.
- Rockford kept its foot on the gas as they took the next 8 points in a row to close out the opening half with a 41-32 lead.
- Out of the break the Red Devils were quickly able to cut into the Rockford lead, trimming it down to 43-40 just 1 minute and 35 seconds into the second half.
- The Regents were able to maintain control with a slight 12-7 run to take a double-digit lead at 55-44 after a tip-in layup from Jermel Grigsby with 11 minutes and 50 seconds left in the game.
- Rockford kept at least a 10-point lead for the rest of the game, reaching as high as a 17-point lead at 70-53 with 3 minutes and 55 seconds left after an emphatic dunk by Jermel Grigsby.
- The Regents were able to hold off the Red Devils for the remainder of the game and eventually took the 77-63 victory.
