Regents and Warriors Battle in Overtime Thriller

Box Score ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University football team fell just short 49-48, in an absolute thriller with the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors on Saturday afternoon. The Regent offense was firing on all cylinders, putting together 603 yards of total offense, including 420 yards in the air and 183 yards on the ground. Despite this, the Warriors started red-hot, scoring on their first five of seven drives to put up 35 points and take a 35-21 lead into the half. In the second half, the RU defense held the Warriors scoreless in the third quarter and allowed the offense to cut the deficit and creep back into the game. Rockford finally tied up the game at 42-42, late in the 4th quarter, but neither team was able to put together a game-winning drive in regulation, forcing overtime. WLC scored to open overtime and so did Rockford, but the Regents elected to go for two, and were unfortunately unsuccessful, allowing the Warriors to take the 49-48 nail-biter.
