ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University men's basketball team fell 80-73 to the Lakeland University Muskies in a Wednesday night conference showdown. The Regents struggled to get things going and trailed for nearly the entire game. The Muskies were in control of the lead for 35 minutes and 3 seconds and Rockford held the lead for just 2 minutes and 17 seconds. The biggest difference in the game came from Lakeland's shooting proficiency, with the Muskies putting up a 30-54 (55.6%) performance from the field and holding Rockford to 26-60 (43.3%) on the night. The Muskies also forced 15 turnovers and converted those into 13 points, while Rockford had 12 turnovers, but could only turn those into 7 points. This ultimately led to Lakeland walking away with the 7-point victory.
- The Regents got out to a slight 12-10 lead to open the first half after Jaden Bell put Rockford in front with a three-pointer.
- The Muskies were able to go on a 10-4 run to get out to a 22-16 lead with 10 minutes and 46 seconds left in the half.
- Lakeland continued to stay in control, eventually getting out to its largest lead of the half at 40-29 with 3 minutes and 48 seconds remaining in the first half.
- Rockford was able to chip a few points off the Lakeland lead before the end of the half, but the Muskies stayed out in front, with a 41-34 lead going into the break.
- The Regents were able to cut the Lakeland lead down to four after a DeVon Oregon triple to open the second half, but the Muskies responded with an 11-4 run to take a 52-41 lead with 15 minutes and 11 seconds left in regulation.
- Lakeland was able to maintain control and hold at least a double-digit lead over the next 10 minutes of play.
- Rockford was able to eventually cut the Lakeland lead to just a 6-point, 75-69 lead with 1 minute and 33 seconds left, but the Muskies were able to make their free throws down the stretch and hold on for the 80-73 win.
- Micah Swanson provided 13 points and a career-high 17 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. Swanson now sits 12th in program history for rebounds with 668.
- DeVon Oregon provided 13 points, with a career-high 9 assists, a career-high 4 steals and 3 rebounds.
- Jaden Bell had a team-high 14 points, also picking up 4 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal.
- Malik Marshall had 12 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 block.
