ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University men's basketball team won its 7th straight game 79-66 in a Wednesday night NACC matchup with the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons, completing the first NACC regular season series sweep of the Falcons ever. Rockford was in control for basically the entire game, leading for 37 minutes and 17 seconds. The Regents also dominated the glass all night, outrebounding the Falcons by 22 and holding a huge 17-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. This led to the Regents creating 23 second chance points to just 6 by the Falcons. With the win, Rockford propels itself into a tie for 3rd place in the NACC standings, with the Regents needing a win on Saturday against Illinois Tech and a loss from Benedictine to solely possess that 3rd spot. However, with this win over CUW, the Regents clinch a home game for the first round of the NACC tournament.
- The game started out close with a 9-6 Rockford advantage after a layup from Micah Swanson.
- The Regents found their rhythm as they went on a 13-6 run to take a 22-13 lead, led by Matthew Elliott with 8 points, in a stretch where he shot 3-4 from the field and 2-2 from deep.
- Rockford continued to maintain its lead, until the Falcons were able to cut it to just a 4-point 28-24 lead with 6:19 left to go in the first half.
- The Regents were able to retake control of their lead thanks to a 16-6 run in the last 5:49 of the half to take a 44-30 lead into the half, with the cherry on top coming from a Kevin Diemer triple.
- The Falcons were able to cut the lead to just single-digits just 2:51 into the second half after a layup to make it a 46-37 game.
- CUW continued to press Rockford and cut the Regent lead to just 4 points, but the Regents scored the next 6 points and took a quick 10-point, 54-44 lead, thanks to 4 points from Micah Swanson and 2 from Tre Miller.
- The Regents found their way to a 67-53 lead with 6:12 left in the game after a three-pointer from Seth Childers.
- The Falcons were able to battle back to a 2 possession game after a layup with 3:38 left in the game to make it a 67-61 Regent lead.
