ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference announced Tuesday morning that Rockford University senior forward
Kevin Diemer has once again been selected as the NACC Men's Basketball Player of the Week. Diemer becomes one of only two men's basketball players in the conference to receive the award twice this season (Ryan Broeckel - WLC) and now has seven NACC Player of the Week awards in his career, which is the most for any athlete in school history.
Kevin Diemer led the Regents to a 79-74 road win at Edgewood on Saturday to move Rockford into a tie for fourth place in the NACC. He tallied his fifth double-double of the season in a very efficient shooting performance. Diemer finished with a game-high 28 points, while shooting 50% from the floor and from three-three point range and 87.5% from the free throw line. He also had a game-high 13 rebounds, 1 block and 1 steal.
The RU men's basketball team is currently in a tie for fourth place in the NACC with Concordia University Wisconsin with four games remaining. Should Rockford hold onto one of the top four seeds, the Regents would host a first round game in the NACC Tournament. However, Rockford is scheduled to play three of its final four games on the road, starting on Wednesday, February 7 with a trip to Marian University. Tip-off between the Regents and Sabres is set for 7 PM in Sadoff Gymnasium.
