DE PERE, Wis. - The Rockford University men's basketball team fell 89-75 on the road Saturday afternoon at the St. Norbert College Green Knights. Rockford played extremely well in the game and had one of its best shooting performances of the season, but unfortunately, the Green Knights also had one of their best offensive outputs of the year as well. The Regents made a season-high 11 three-pointers on 50% shooting and knocked down 24-of-28 free throw attempts for a season-high 85.7% at the charity stripe. However, Rockford was simply unable to overcome a blistering 64.4% shooting performance from St. Norbert, including making 56.6% of its shots from beyond the arc. The win gives SNC its fourth straight victory over Rockford.
- St. Norbert made four of its first five shot attempts to jump out to a quick 9-3 advantage just under four minutes into the game.
- The Green Knights extended their lead up to as many as 13 points following an 8-0 run midway through the first half.
- Rockford got to within eight on two different occasions, both of which came after points by DeVon Oregon, but the Green Knights ultimately took a 43-31 edge into the half.
- The Regents were able to chop the SNC lead in half over a span of just two minutes early in the second half. Rockford went on a 7-1 run where the Regents were both a perfect 2-2 from the floor and at the free throw line. Jaden Bell led the way with five points, including a triple that made it a 46-40 game.
- After St. Norbert pushed the lead back up to double-digits on multiple occasions, Rockford was able to get all the way back to within five at the 9:43 mark. The Regents went on a 7-2 run, capped off by a pair of free throws by Malik Marshall, to make it a 62-57 game.
- Unfortunately, Rockford was never able to get any closer. St. Norbert methodically extended its lead back up to double-figures with 4:40 remaining. The Green Knights then proceeded to go 9-for-10 at the free throw line over the remainder of the game to seal the 89-74 win.
- Jaden Bell had a team-high 15 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal.
- DeVon Oregon finished with 14 points, 3 assists, 3 steals and 1 rebound.
- Micah Swanson added 11 points, 7 rebounds and 1 assist.
- Matthew Elliott had 10 points and 7 rebounds off the bench.
