ROCKFORD, Ill. -- The Rockford University football team faced the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors on Saturday afternoon for Senior Day at Sam Greeley Field.
Gage Hugart started behind center and finished 18-for-31 for 75 yards through the air.
It was a backfield by committee for Rockford, with seven different Regents running the football.
Kemaurion Richardson and
Kai Pon fared the best, rushing for 19 and 12 yards.Â
Timothy Bearden fell just short of the single season receptions record, coming into the game needing 15. He gave a valiant effort, finishing with 10 receptions for 40 yards.
Joey Alvarez made history in multiple ways. He tallied 21 tackles, which broke his own single game record of 20. Those 21 tackles give him a standing career total of 361, which breaks the career record of 355 set by Seth Swinehart in 2014. Alvarez also has another year of eligibility to extend that record.Â
Napoleon Williams finished with 7 tackles, 1.5 tackles-for-loss, and a sack.
Matthew Hill also had 8 tackles.
Wisconsin Lutheran dominated from the get-go, scoring 14 first quarter points. They tacked on three more touchdowns in the second quarter to ride a 34-0 lead into the break.
The running game led the way for the Warriors, finishing with 239 yards on the ground. Carson Koehler ran for 129 yards on 9 carries and scored a touchdown.Â
The Regents were not able to mount a second half comeback.
Kaden Finnestad was able to cap off his career by nailing a 33-yard field goal to put Rockford on the board. The final score was 48-3.Â
This was the final game of the 2025 Rockford football season, thanks to everyone who came out and supported!
