ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University women's basketball team won in convincing fashion 75-46 over the Dominican University Stars Thursday night. The Regents were in control for the entire game, grabbing the lead just 47 seconds into the contest and never looking back, leading by as many as 29 in the process. Rockford shot the ball well with a 27-65 (41.5%) performance from the field, while RU's defense held the Stars in check as they shot just 17-57 (29.8%) on the night. The stingy Rockford defense was also able to hold Dominican off the scoreboard for the first 5 minutes and 45 seconds of the game. The Regents were in control of the glass as well, outrebounding the Stars 51-30, including 16-7 offensively and 35-23 defensively. Rockford has now won three straight over Dominican.
- Rockford opened the contest with nine straight points over the first four minutes of the game. The Regents shot 4-7 (57.1%) from the field, while holding the Stars to 0-6 (0%) during the hot start for RU.
- The Regents stayed in control, holding Dominican to just 6 points in the quarter and holding a 14-6 lead after one.
- Rockford continued to pour it on with a huge 21-8 run over the first four and a half minutes of the second quarter to take a 35-14 lead. The Regents shot an impressive 8-10 (80%) from the field, 2-2 (100%) from deep and 3-3 (100%) from the charity stripe and were led by D'Asia Washington and Kyla Wilkerson with 8 points each during the big run.
- Dominican and Rockford traded baskets to close out the final five minutes of the half with the Regents taking a commanding 39-19 lead into the break.
- Rockford was able to grow its lead to as many as 26 in this quarter, doubling up the Stars at 52-26 after an Alyssa Havard triple.
- The Stars did cut into the RU lead, with an 11-3 run to close out the third quarter, but Rockford still held a 55-37 lead, heading into the fourth quarter.
- Dominican never got any closer than 18 points for the remainder of the game and Rockford finished the game with its largest lead of the night and eventual final score of 75-46.
- Rockford had five different players score in double figures and had two different players record double-doubles.
- D'Asia Washington provided a game-high 18 points on 5-7 (71.4%) shooting from the field and 8-9 (88.9%) shooting from the line. Washington also recorded her seventh double-double of the season and third straight with 10 rebounds on the night. She also picked up 2 steals and an assist.
- Katie Paredes picked up her third double-double of the season and second straight with 13 points and a season-high 14 rebounds. Paredes added 2 assists as well.
- Kyla Wilkerson poured in a season-high 14 points on 6-9 (66.7%) shooting. She also recorded 2 assists and 1 rebound on the night.
- Jocelyn Callahan added 11 points on 3-5 (60%) shooting, including 3-4 (75%) from beyond the arc. Callahan also added 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal.
- Alyssa Havard had 10 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal.
