ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University men's basketball program had two players recognized by the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference on Tuesday afternoon when the NACC released its 2024-25 postseason awards. Senior forward
Micah Swanson and senior guard
Jaden Bell were both selected Second Team All-NACC by the conference's 13 head coaches. This marks the second NACC postseason award for Swanson (2022-23: First Team) and the first for Bell. Rockford has now had at least one player honored by the NACC for seventeen straight season.
Forward
Micah Swanson garnered the second all-conference award of his career after being voted Second Team All-NACC. Swanson was consistently near the top of the conference in multiple stat categories and led the Regents in scoring (13.5), rebounding (9.0), blocks (0.9) and field goal percentage (.531). At the conclusion of the NACC Tournament, Swanson ranked in the top 25 in the NACC in eight categories, including four top six rankings. Swanson was 18th in scoring, second in rebounding and offensive rebounding (2.8), fourth in defensive rebounding (6.2), sixth in field goal percentage, 11th in blocks, 22nd in assists (2.3) and 18th in minutes played (30.7). He concludes his stellar career as one of the best players in program history. Swanson's 1,376 points and 817 rebounds rank thirteenth and seventh respectively in program history. He is also one of only 16 RU men's basketball players to record both 1,000 points and 500 rebounds in a career.
Guard
Jaden Bell was selected Second Team All-NACC for the first time in his career. Bell had another outstanding season and once again led the RU perimeter attack. Entering the NCAA Division III Tournament, Bell ranked in the top 25 in the conference in six different statistical categories. Bell was 25th in scoring (12.3), 6th in made three-point field goals per game (1.8), 22nd in rebounding (5.0), 18th in offensive rebounding (5.0), 20th in defensive rebounding (3.9) and 22nd in minutes played (29.0). He is also on the precipice of joining both the Rockford University 1,000 point and 500 rebounding clubs. Bell currently sits with 899 points and 427 rebounds for his RU career.
The Rockford University men's basketball team earned its eleventh NACC Tournament berth and tied the program record with its fifth straight NACC Tournament appearance this past season. Rockford finished the year with a 14-12 overall record to clinch its fifth straight winning season for the first time in program history.
