Men's Soccer Loses a Hard-Fought Battle Against Elmhurst

ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University men's soccer team fell 2-1 at Sam Greeley Field Sunday afternoon against Elmhurst University. The Blue Jays dominated the possession battle in the first half, managing 13 shots to the Regents 1. Rockford's defense was able to hold their own, shutting out the Blue Jays on the back of Juan Sarmiento's seven first half saves. After a scoreless first period, Elmhurst was able to get on the board in the 47th minute off of a penalty kick. The Regents evened up the game in the 58th minute off the foot of Francesco Stoner, served up by an assist from Rejhan Jakupi. The Blue Jays took the lead in the 64th minute and were able to stave off the Regents attack for the rest of the game to seal the victory 2-1.
