ROCKFORD, Ill. -- The Rockford University men's soccer team hosted the Lakeland University Muskies for Senior Day on Saturday afternoon. After a dead-even first half, Lakeland pulled away to win, 3-1.
Four different players notched a goal in this one.
Sebastian Herrera was the lone scorer for Rockford, knocking his first career goal into the net in the 27th minute.
Lakeland entered the match with the top scoring offense in the NACC and put consistent pressure on RU's defense from kickoff, scoring in the 13th minute off a Woodlens Frederic conversion assisted by Victor Aguirre.
Herrera tied things up just 14 minutes later, cashing in from about 40 yards away on a free kick. The score stayed that way into the half, both sides locked up 1-1.
The Muskies' attack proved too much for the Regents in the second period. They snuck two goals passed
Wesley Pritzlaff, who finished with three saves, in the 61st and 74th minutes.
Even with a few chances down the stretch, Rockford was unable to score another goal. Lakeland would prove victorious, 3-1.
The Muskies held the advantage in shots, 24-11, while both teams were even in shots on goal at six.
The Regents will return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 14, when they face Concordia Wisconsin at 4 p.m. in Mequon.
