FOND DU LAC, Wis. -- The Rockford University women's basketball team fell to NACC conference opponent Marian University, 73-49, on Saturday in the final game of the regular season.
Te Simpson and
Kyla Wilkerson both scored 14 points to lead the Regents. Simpson also led the team in rebounds with 10 boards to finish the season with 12 double-doubles.
The first quarter was very tightly contested, as Rockford started off with the lead up 12-7, but Marian closed out the quarter on a 5-0 spurt as both teams were tied at 12 at the end of the first quarter.
Marian outscored Rockford 18-12 in the second quarter. The Sabres took their largest lead, holding a 30-19 advantage, before the Regents ended the half on a 5-0 run as
Nia Wilkerson made a layup off her own steal with three seconds left, pulling the Regents to within six, trailing 30-24 at halftime.
In the third quarter, the Sabres extended their lead to 45-32, which was part of a 13-6 run in a span of 3:07. The Regents stayed in the fight, as they responded with a 7-0 run of their own, but Marian regained a 10-point advantage, holding a 50-40 lead at the end of the third.
The Sabres then dominated the fourth, starting off with a 9-0 run to take a 59-40 lead, and pulled away to outscore the Regents in the fourth quarter, 23-9.
This was the final game of the 2025-26 Rockford women's basketball season—thank you to everyone who supported throughout the season.
