ROCKFORD, Ill. -- The Rockford University women's soccer team fell to Marian University, 10-0, on Sunday.
Ella Miranda-Navarro scored in the second minute to give Marian an early 1-0 lead. Both defenses held strong for nearly 40 minutes before Sophia Romo found the back of the net in the 41st minute. Marian added another goal in the 43rd minute when Jazmine Martinez scored to take a 3-0 lead into halftime.
Just over a minute into the second half, Kylee Verkuilen scored to extend the Sabres' lead to 4-0. Daniela Chaname added another goal in the 52nd minute before Jazzlene Bravo Velazquez scored in the 71st minute to make it 6-0. Marian added another goal from Keeley Moore before Rebekah Masterson scored in the 80th minute. Brianna Guelig added another goal in the 83rd minute before Anna Gonzales capped the scoring with a goal in the 89th minute.
Lily Rose made 15 saves for the Regents.
The Regents will return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 30, at 2 p.m. against St. Norbert College.
