Jallen Bashford was promoted to Special Teams Coordinator and Linebackers coach in 2022 after serving one season as a graduate assistant for the football program. Bashford brings a wealth of knowledge and familiarity to the program, as he also spent four seasons as a linebacker for the Regents. Â
Just prior to entering the coaching ranks, Bashford concluded a successful four-year stint as a Regent. He received postseason recognition twice from the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference during his career, including a Second Team All-NACC selection in 2019. He was also named the conference’s defensive player of the week in 2019, following a 19-tackle performance at Benedictine. It was the third time that season in which Bashford tallied 19 tackles in a single game. He still currently holds the RU single-game record for tackles (19) and both the RU and the NACC single-season record for tackles (149). Additionally, Bashford is currently second all-time at Rockford with 351 total tackles, which is just three off the school record, despite playing in only 32 career games. He also finished his career with 161 solo tackles, 188 assisted tackles, eight tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, three interceptions, two forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries. Â
His best year at Rockford came in his final full season in a Regents’ uniform. Bashford finished the 2019 season with an NCAA Division III-leading 149 total tackles. He also added 1.5 tackles for loss, a forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, and two interceptions.
Bashford graduated from Rockford University in 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise Science and a minor in Health Education.
