Kalama Kaluhiokalani was hired in February 2024 as a member of the Rockford University football coaching staff. Coach Kaluhiokalani serves as the team's defensive line coach and co-special teams coordinator. Kaluhiokalani joins the Regents after coaching stints at NCAA Division I Utah Tech University and NCAA Division III St. Norbert College.
Most recently Kaluhiokalani spent one season as the assistant defensive line coach and video coordinator at St. Norbert College. Coach Kaluhiokalani was primarily responsible for overseeing and implementing the game plan for the run defense and working with the defensive line. He also served as the assistant special teams coordinator and monitored the academic standing and progress of the defensive linemen. In 2023, the Green Knights led the NACC in both rushing defense (93.7 yards/game) and tackles for loss (8.7 per game), while finishing 34th and 8th in NCAA Division III respectively in those two categories. St. Norbert was also second in the NACC and 39th in the country in both scoring defense (17.3 points/game) and sacks (2.8 per game). The Green Knights wrapped up the year with a pair of defensive linemen receiving All-NACC recognition in 2023 under the tutelage of Coach Kaluhiokalani.
Coach Kaluhiokalani spent the two years prior at Utah Tech University as an offensive assistant with the offensive line. There he helped analyze opposing defenses and develop the program's offensive linemen. Additionally, Kaluhiokalani served as the video coordinator and oversaw the breakdown of the game film and the opponent's defensive film.
Prior to entering the coaching ranks, Kaluhiokalani attended BYU where he was a member of the Cougar football program. Kaluhiokalani played defensive line at BYU under head coach Bronco Mendenhall.
Kaluhiokalani graduated from BYU in 2013 with a bachelor's degree in Accounting, and then graduated from Utah Tech University in 2023 with a master's degree in Accounting.
