Robison is entering his third season as an assistant for the Regent softball program. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge, having coached competitive fast-pitch teams for the past six years, after coaching baseball for the previous decade.
Robison is a Rockford University alum and played baseball for the Regents during the 1989-92 seasons. During his time in a Regent uniform, Robison garnered three all-conference awards and led the Regents' with a .355 batting average, while not committing an error in the field.
Prior to his time as a Regent, Robison was a stand-out prep star at Harlem High School in Machesney Park, Illinois. Robison hit .510 his senior year, setting the school record for batting average in a season.
Robison’s talent on the diamond was passed down to his children. His oldest son, Drake, was a pitcher at Iowa Western Community College (IWCC) and earned the win on the mound in the 2014 NJCAA World Series Championship Game. After his time at IWCC, Drake would go on to pitch for Ole Miss in the SEC, before finishing his collegiate career at the University of Iowa in the Big 10. While at Iowa, Drake earned the start and the win in the 2017 Big 10 Championship Game. The right-hander allowed just one earned run and four hits over seven innings, propelling Iowa to just their second NCAA Tournament appearance in 20 years. Drake is currently the pitching coach at Chattanooga State Community College.
Robison’s youngest son, Dalton, set the single-season home run record in his junior year at Salem University, after transferring from IWCC, where he also made an NJCAA World Series appearance. Dalton is currently working on his master’s degree in Forensic Science at Salem University.
Robison’s daughter, Kennedy, is currently a freshman at IWCC and a member of the softball team. Â
