Sam Korn was named the head softball coach at Rockford University in August 2022. Korn joins the Regents after multiple coaching stops across the country. She becomes the eighth head coach in the history of the program.
Just prior to coming to Rockford, Korn was the head defensive coach and assistant offensive coach at Bridgewater College. Korn was involved in all facets of the program, including conducting all defensive practices, working with the catchers and assisting with the pitchers. She coached six all-conference performers, two all-region players and helped the team win its first game in the ODAC Tournament since the 2013 season. Away from the diamond, Korn also served as the recruiting and admissions coordinator and an assistant strength and conditioning coach.
Korn’s other collegiate coaching experience came at the University of Pikeville. There she assisted with all aspects of the program, including strength and conditioning, catchers, outfielders, hitting instruction and leading practices. She was also responsible for managing the team’s social media accounts, monitoring academic progress and conducting camps.
Before entering the coaching ranks, Korn was a three-sport athlete at Alverno College. She was a four-year player for the Inferno softball program and started 122 games during her career. Korn was also heavily involved throughout campus during her time at Alverno. She was a member of the school’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) all four years and served as SAAC President for three years.
Korn earned her MBA from the University of Pikeville and her bachelor’s degree in Integrated Studies from Alverno College. She currently resides in Rockford, Illinois.
