Rockford University

Christy Sitze is entering her second season as the head coach ofthe Rockford University volleyball program. Sitze is the thirteenthhead coach in the program’s 42 year history. Coach Sitzebrings a wealth of coaching knowledge and experience having spentnine years at the high school level as well as directing multiplevolleyball clubs.  

Prior to arriving at Rockford, Sitzewas the head volleyball coach at Oregon High School from 2002-07and again from 2010-2012. She turned around a program that had notexperienced much success in the past intoa powerhouse. Sitze led herteam to five consecutive conference championships (2003-07), eightregional championships (2002-07, 2010 and 2012), four sectionalfinals (2004, 2005, 2007 and 2012) and a sectional championship in2006. Coach Sitze recorded five seasons of at least 25 wins and wasthe Sauk Valley Newspaper's Coach of the Year in 2006. Under hertutelage, many of herstudent-athletes have received All-Conference, All-Area and All-State recognition.She has also had numerous of her past student-athletes go on toplay at the NCAA level including some of them receivingscholarships at the Division I and Division II levels. In additionto coaching high school volleyball, Sitze has also coached anddirected three separate volleyball clubs since 2000. Currently she is theowner and director of the Power Up Volleyball Club. This club wasdesigned to help meet the growing needs for volleyball players inthe Northwest Illinois Community and has seen over 100 players inthe program. Prior to that Sitze was the owner and director of theReact Volleyball Club from 2006-07 and the Assistant Director andcoach at Club Fusion Volleyball from 2000-05.

Sitze received aNCAA Division I scholarship out of high school to play volleyballin the state of South Carolina. She then transferred back theCollege of DuPage near her home where she received her associate'sdegree in General Studies. A few years later Sitze earned herbachelor's degree in Liberal Arts from Northern IllinoisUniversity.
