ROCKFORD, Ill.- The Rockford College men's basketball team cruised to a 91-59 victory over Principia College Friday night at the Seaver Center. The Regents jumped out to a quick 17-2 lead off a lay-up from junior forward Phil Andrade (South Chicago Heights, Ill./Bloom Trail) and never looked back. The Regents outrebounded the Panthers 24-16 in the 1st half and shot 56% from the field while heading into halftime with a 44-32 lead.
The Regents momentum would carry over to the 2nd half as they would outscore Principia 47-27. Rockford would turn in a season-high 19 assists, force 17 Principia turnovers and see their bench outscore their opponents 29-5. All 11 Regents that entered the game would score in the Rockford victory. Junior guard Scott Suchy (Genoa, Ill./Genoa-Kingston) led the way offensively for Rockford with a game-high 20 points. Senior guard Grant Olsen (DeKalb, Ill./DeKalb) scored 14 points to go with 9 rebounds, 6 assists and a game-high 4 steals. Andrade would finish with 10 points and 6 rebounds off the bench.
The Regents will hit the road and head to Dubuque, Iowa to take on the Loras College Duhawks. Tip-off is set for 4:00 PM.
