MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Rockford University volleyball team got itself back on the winning track on Wednesday night with a 3-0 victory over the Mount Mary University Blue Angels. It was probably the best match the ladies have played all season as they dominated every statistical category. Rockford controlled the offensive end of the floor recording 48 kills to Mount Mary's 21 kills. The Regents also led in assists (43-20), service aces (8-1), digs (66-52), blocks (5-3) and kill percentage (.316-.111).
The Regents had a very balanced performance with numerous players recording excellent stat lines. Junior Katelyn Hasken (Lanark, Ill./Eastland) continues to be one of the key performers for Rockford. Hasken recorded her fifth double-double of the season and her third in the last four matches. The junior tallied 10 kills and a match-high 18 digs. Fellow junior Laina Scheri (Cortland, Ill./DeKalb) had her first double-double of the season with a match-high 12 kills and 14 digs. Sophomore Kirsten Bergin (Mt. Morris, Ill./Forreston) also had a solid performance recording 11 kills, 4 digs and a pair of blocks. Taylor Rossi (Ingleside, Ill./Grant Community) had yet another solid all-around game for her team. Rossi led the Regents with 40 assists and 4 service aces to go along with 6 kills and 6 digs. Senior Heather Hyland (Belvidere, Ill./Belvidere) produced another strong defensive performance for Rockford. Hyland recorded 16 digs and a block as well as 6 kills and 2 service aces.
The volleyball team returns to the court on October 4th at Aurora University. The match is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
