DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Rockford University men's soccer team opened its 2013 campaign with a tough road test against Defiance College on Friday. The Regents found themselves in trouble early in the match after receiving a red card less than ten minutes in forcing Rockford to play down a man the entire match. It turned out to too much for the Regents to overcome as they lost 3-0.
Defiance struck shortly after the red card off an unassisted goal just under 14 minutes into the match. The Yellow Jackets extended their lead to 2-0 scoring on a header off a free kick just after the midpoint of the first half. Rockford's defense hunkered down remainder of the day and kept Defiance off the scoreboard until the final minute of the match when the Yellow Jackets added their final goal.
Rockford hopes to get into the win column tomorrow when it plays Westminster College (Pa.). The match is set to begin at 12:00 p.m.
