DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Rockford University men's soccer team suffered its second loss in as many days at the Purple and Gold Classic hosted by Defiance College. The Regents were again shut out, this time by the Westminster College (Pa.) Titans.
The Titans broke the scoreless tie just over ten minutes into the match scoring the first goal of the day off a header. Westminster scored four more goals in the opening 45 minutes to take a 5-0 lead into halftime. The Regents were unable to get anything going in the second half and ultimately were toppled by the Titans 9-0.
Rockford was able to muster three shots on goal in the loss. Senior Sam Medina-Conchi (Milwaukee, Wis./Ronald Reagan) took two of the three shots on goal while freshman Keith Latham (Sandwich, Ill./North Central Catholic) took the other.
After a few days off, the men's soccer team returns to the field on Wednesday, September 4th. The Regents will again be on the road as they travel to Knox College to face the Prairie Fire. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
