ROCKFORD, IL.- The Regents women's soccer team returned to the field looking to build off of a tough 2-1 loss to Knox College on September 10th. Things did not go as planned when they faced Cornell College at 1pm in Mt. Vernon, Iowa. The women fell 6-0 to a tough Cornell team who is now 3-1.
The score was misleading as the Regents battled throughout the game. Rockford fell behind early as Cornell scored at the 4:44 mark. Cornell was then kept off the scoreboard for the next 29 minutes. The Regents endured a tough stretch giving up five goals between the 33:57 mark and the 79:01 mark. Despite giving up six goals Alyssa Nicholson (Braidwood, IL/Reed-Custer) played a tough game in the net for the Regents. She recorded 13 saves and faced 31 shots overall. Her 13 saves is a new season-high, besting her previous high of 12 vs. Monmouth College.
Rockford returns to the field when they face Eureka College at home on September 18th at 5pm. Three days later the Regents open the conference portion of their schedule when Lakeland College comes to town for a 4pm game.
