BELOIT, Wis. - The Rockford University women's soccer team opened its 2013 season on Tuesday at Beloit College. Rockford fell behind early allowing a goal just over three minutes into the match and two more goals in the next ten minutes. However, despite the early on onslaught of goals, Rockford's defense stiffened as the Regents entered the half down just 3-0. The ladies continued to play hard early in the second half keeping the Buccaneers off the scoreboard for the first 22 minutes of the half. However, Buccaneers eventually wore down Regents scoring three more goals to sail to a 6-0 win.
Rockford was able to muster two shots in the loss on Tuesday. Junior Nikkole Kutella (Poplar Grove, Ill./Belvidere North) and sophomore Christine Hermann (Tinley Park, Ill./Tinley Park) each recorded a shot in the loss.
The women's soccer team opens the home portion of its schedule on Thursday, September 5th against Monmouth College. The match is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. at Sam Greeley Field.
