EUREKA, Ill. - The Rockford University women's soccer team won its second match of the season on Wednesday at Eureka College by a 2-1 final improving its record to 2-5-1 this season. The victory gives the Regents their most wins in a season since 2011 (3-12) and marks the first time since 2011 the Regents have knocked off the Red Devils.
The Regents got the scoring started in the match when junior Chrissy Hermann (Tinley Park, Ill./Tinley Park) scored her team leading third goal of the season off an assist from Fernanda Chavez (Belvidere, Ill./North). Rockford then sealed the 2-1 victory in the second half when Callie Davis (Florissant, Mo./Hazelwood West) found the back of the net off an assist from Hermann.
Freshman Avery Jones (Tappahannock, Va./Essex) played a stellar game in goal for Rockford. Jones allowed just one goal while making a trio of saves on the afternoon.
The women's soccer team returns to action on Saturday, October 4th at 2 PM at Faith Baptist. Rockford will look to improve its record to 2-0 this year against the Eagles as the Regents notched a 2-0 victory over them back on September 19th.
