ROCKFORD, Ill.- The Rockford University men's soccer team returned to Sam Greeley field for its first home game since October 1. Facing the Regents was the Aurora University Spartans. The Regents held their own against the fourth ranked team in the NACC for the first half. But the Spartans would pull away in the second half for a 4-0 victory.
Rockford had its best scoring chance three minutes into the game. Adam Seiter (Rockford, Ill./Boylan) broke away from the Spartans defenders and fired a shot towards the back corner of Aurora's net, but their goalie got just enough of Seiter's shot to deflect it away. Tham Mana (Rockford, Ill./Jefferson) then attempted to head Seiter's deflected shot into the goal but Aurora's goalie recovered in time to snatch Mana's header before it went in the goal. Aurora would score six minutes into the game.
The rest of the half remained scoreless. Aurora was able to string together three goals in ten minutes part-way through the second half for the 4-0 victory. Despite giving up four goals, Rockford's goalie Francisco Orenday (Rockford, Ill./Jefferson) stopped six shots and faced a total of 27 shots.
The Regents next game is its final home game of the season. Rockford faces Edgewood College on Saturday October 25 at 1:00 p.m. They then finish their season on Wednesday October 29 at 3:00 p.m. at Concordia Chicago.
