Regents Can't Overcome Spartans

ROCKFORD, Ill.- The Rockford University volleyball team continued its home game streak with another tough conference game. Friday night the Aurora University Spartans came to town with a 15-7 record. All three sets were back-and-forth and close. The first two sets were decided by five points and the third set was decided by two points. 

The first set fell in favor of the Spartans with a score of 25-20. The second set also belonged to Aurora with the same score at 25-20. In the final set Aurora pulled away late to win the set 25-23 and the match 3-0.

Everyone contributed for Rockford in the match. Six different Regents had between four and seven kills. Kayla Kurz (Franklin Grove, Ill./Ashton-Franklin Center) led the team with seven kills on 15 attempts for a .267 kill percentage. Taylor Rossi (Ingleside, Ill./Grant Community) and Erin Pederson (Oregon, Ill./Oregon) both had six kills. Rossi had an all around good game as she finished with 20 assists and ten digs. Pederson had 11 digs and one service ace.

Rounding out the attacking were Peyton Achs (Erie, Ill./Eastland) and Marissa Plock (German Valley, Ill./Forreston) who finished with five kills each. Achs also had one solo block and two block assists. Katelyn Hasken (Lanark, Ill./Eastland) added to her team lead in kills with four. She also had 12 digs, one solo block, and two block assists. 

Rockford returns to the court one week from today for a 7:00 p.m. start against Edgewood College. The following day is the final home game for the Regents as they face MSOE at 1:00 p.m.
