MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - It was another difficult day for women's basketball team as the ladies dropped their second straight game to open the season falling to Mount Mercy. Rockford once again dug itself into an early hole that it was unable to climb out of falling behind 15-0 less than 4 minutes into the game. The Regents were never really able to get themselves back into the game as they trailed 53-24 at the half and ultimately lost by a 93-56 final.
Individually Rockford had a trio of players score in double-figures on Sunday. Senior Callie Rezin (Rockford, Ill.) played a very solid all-around game. Rezin scored a team-high 17 points on 5-of-7 shooting including knocking down 2-of-3 from beyond the arc. She rounded out her stat line with 4 assists, 2 steals and 1 rebound. Junior Diamond Williams (Carpentersville, Ill.) played well offensively pouring in a season-high 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting. Williams also grabbed 9 rebounds for the second consecutive game. Amanda Davis (Mundelein, Ill.) was the final Regent to crack double-digits in scoring with 10 points.
The women's basketball team returns to the court on Tuesday, November 25 at Knox College. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
