JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The women's soccer team entered Saturday's match at MacMurray College looking to score its first win of the 2014 season. It was a competitive match for much of the day as the Regents and Highlanders both played and fought hard. However it was MacMurray who broke the scoreless tie about midway through the first half to take a 1-0 lead. The Highlanders added one additional goal to take a 2-0 lead into halftime. The second half followed a similar flow as MacMurray scored another pair of goals to win by a 4-0 final.
Offensively the Regents recorded 6 shots on goal with two players accounting for 4 of those shots. Freshman Evelyn West (Rockford, Ill./East) and sophomore Fernanda Chavez (Belvidere, Ill./North) led the way for Rockford taking 2 shots each with both of them coming on goal.
The women's soccer team returns to the field on Sunday, September 14th at Blackburn College. The match has a scheduled start time of 2 PM.
