SHEBOYGAN, Wis. - The Rockford University men's soccer team entered Saturday's NACC opener looking to notch its first conference win since 2009. For much of the match it appeared as though Rockford may be able to get that elusive as the two schools were locked in a scoreless tie much of the afternoon. However, it was the Muskies who broke through late with a flurry of goals. Lakeland broke the scoreless tie in the 79th to take a 1-0 lead. The Muskies then scored two more goals over the next ten minutes en route to the 3-0 win.

Rockford struggled to get much going offensively as the Regents were able to muster just 5 shots on goal. Freshman Nathan Hathcock (Poplar Grove, Ill./Belvidere North) and sophomore Javier Acosta (Rockford, Ill./Jefferson) each tallied a pair of shots all of which were on goal. Freshman Miguel Cortez (Marengo, Ill./Marengo) recorded the other shot on goal for Rockford. 

Goalkeeper Kyle Adams (St. Louis, Mo./Timberland) made 7 saves in the match for Rockford. Adams still leads the NACC in saves (54) by a wide margin.

The men's soccer team will be back in action on Tuesday, September 23rd at home against MSOE. The match has a scheduled start time of 4:00 PM.
