LISLE, Ill. - The Rockford University men's soccer team fell 6-0 in its final road contest of the year at Benedictine University. The Regents allowed a trio of goals in each half as the Eagles put pressure on the Rockford defense for the majority of the evening. Benedictine broke the scoreless tie with a goal in the fifth minute and added two more goals over the next 25 minutes to take a 3-0 lead into halftime. The second half followed a similar pattern as the Eagles scored less than four minutes into the half and then added an additional two goals en route to the 6-0 win.
Offensively Rockford was led by Erik Manriquez (Rockford, Ill.) and Mike Mottonen (South Barrington, Ill.). Manriquez tallied two shots including one on goal while Mottonen recorded a single shot on goal.
Goalkeeper Anthony Beck (Fishers, Ind.) added nine more saves bringing his season total to 101 saves. Beck is currently the NACC leader in saves by almost 20 with only one week remaining in the 2015 regular season.
The RU men's soccer team will play its final match of the year next Wednesday, October 28 at home against Aurora University. The match has a scheduled start time of 3:00 p.m. at Sam Greeley Field.
