ROCKFORD, Ill.- The Rockford University women's soccer team returned to action on Sunday to take on Lakeland College at Sam Greeley Field. Rockford had to battle from behind most of the match but saw their comeback fall short losing by a final of 2-1.

Rockford started out slow trailing at halftime 1-0. In the second half the Regents scored first in the 59th minute when Jessica Bergmann (Kenosha, Wis.) tallied her first career goal as a Regent to even the score at 1. Lakeland struck back in the 66th minute with another goal to take the lead 2-1. The Regents could not get any other offense going and ultimately lost by the final of 2-1.

Gris Mendoza (Rockford, Ill.) played well in the goal for the Regents with 15 saves on 17 shots on goal. 

The Rockford University women's soccer team returns to action Wednesday, October 7 against Faith Baptist Bible College at the Smith Athletic Field with a scheduled start time of 3:30 p.m.
