ROCKFORD, Ill.- The Rockford University women's soccer team returned to action Wednesday to take on Grace Bible College. The Regents gave up a late goal to the Tigers to lose by a final of 1-0.
Rockford saw their best scoring opportunity when Fernanda Chavez (Belvidere, Ill.) got on a breakaway in the first half and fired a shot off the crossbar to deny the Regents the first goal of the match. The Regents and Tigers remained scoreless into halftime. The Tigers scored a goal in the 79th minute to ultimately beeat the Regents by a final of 1-0.
Chavez led Rockford offensively with 2 shots and 1 coming on goal. Defensively Gris Mendoza (Rockford, Ill.) played another excellent game for Rockford with 8 saves on 9 attempts.
THe Rockford University women's soccer team will return to action Saturday, October 10 to take on Maranatha Baptist University with a scheduled start time of 1 p.m.
